Water Line Chlorinating
This Service Includes:
The pump, chlorine, tools and related equipment necessary to chlorinate water mains.
Experienced, insured personnel to perform the chlorination in accordance with job specifications.
Certified chlorination results, if necessary, for the owner, contractor and engineer.
Benefits:
Chlorination of new or repaired water lines insures contamination-free water for the customer.
Protects the utility from supplying hazardous water.
If included with the pressure test, chlorinating is easily and rapidly done.
Meets or exceeds AWWA specifications.
IMPORTANT: Chlorination is a process used to purify water lines prior to placing them into service. This is normally done at the same time as the pressure testing, utilizing the same main connections. The chlorinated line is usually left for a period of 24 hours, then thoroughly flushed prior to use to remove high concentrations of chlorine.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES:
The pipeline must be full of water and have the air purged from the system.
Provide a 3⁄4" pump connection at the main.
The system must be isolated with all fittings, valves, hydrants, caps and plugs restrained.
Information Required Before Chlorinating:
Size of the pipeline to be chlorinated.
Length of pipeline to be chlorinated.
Are there valves in-line for isolation?
Are there any services installed off the pipeline?
NOTE: It is advisable to have an accepted pressure test before proceeding with chlorination. This will eliminate the need to rechlorinate should the pipeline require repairs to achieve an acceptable pressure test.
Water Line Dechlorinating
This Service Includes:
The dechlorinator, neutralizing agent, tools and related equipment necessary to dechlorinate water mains.
Experienced, insured personnel to perform the dechlorination process in accordance with job specifications.
Benefits:
Neutralizes chlorine discharge to minimize environmental impact through graduated neutralizing agent injection.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide a minimum 2" iron pipe thread connection at point of discharge.
Provide proper outfall discharge area during the dechlorination process to prevent washout.
The system must be isolated with all fittings, valves, hydrants, caps and plugs restrained.
Information Required Before Dechlorinating:
Size of the pipeline to be dechlorinated.
Length of pipeline to be dechlorinated.
Final residual reading requirements per job specifications.
